The Facebook-owned mobile messaging service WhatsApp is finally rolling out the document sharing feature to iOS and Android apps (the feature is unfortunately limited to only PDF files at this time).
A number of WhatsApp users have already seen the feature pop up alongside the other sharing options. The feature will work the same on both iOS and Android devices if the recipient has upgraded to the latest version of WhatsApp. At launch, users are able to select documents from cloud storage services including Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive, and others.
When shared, WhatsApp displays a file preview of the PDF, together with the number of pages, file size and type. With today’s end-to-end encryption on its network, the documents shared on WhatsApp will be protected.
With all that being said, looks like the document sharing will most definitely boost business use of WhatsApp’s messenger app.
