Why did the users stop following brands in Social Media

Starting with the 12th March, many Facebook pages found themselves with a lower number of Likes. Facebook explained it was a “Spring Clean” through which they removed inactive users, memorialized and voluntarily deactivated accounts from Pages’ like counts.

If this change is clearly seen in the Likes count, on the other side, day by day, Facebook pages and Social Media accounts loose followers, without feeling it, out of many reasons.

Fractl and Buzzstream want to know the exact reasons so they asked over 9000 Social Media users. The results were predictable and also interesting.

21% of the people questioned said they quit following a brand because of the boring content. On the other side, 19% said they abandoned the “relation” with the brand because it “talked” too much. 22% of the brand followers said their preferred content are pictures while only 3% want e-books or white papers.
