Effective Marketing Using Color Psychology

Color psychology is the study of color as a determinant of human behavior. Color combinations may have a noticeable or subliminal impact on the perceptions that others have of your marketing materials, and that include your website design. When a visitor lands on your website, they will make a very quick judgement whether it is worth staying or not. Though there are a lot of factors that influence how and what visitors behave, a great deal is decided by visual cues, the strongest and most persuasive being color.

Here are a few tips on using colors in your website color scheme.

Red – active color, creates feelings of urgency, alert, heat, passion and excitement. It grabs attention and evokes speed and energy.

Black – It’s serious, bold and implies strong feelings of power, exclusivity and luxury

Blue – is the color of security, truth and stability. It implies loyalty, reliability and an open communication.

Pink – is the color of youthful intensity. It’s also soft, feminine, romantic, perfect for products for women.

Yellow – represents sunshine, cheer and happiness. It’s happy, light and optimistic and puts people in a good and positive mood.

Green – is very easy on eyes, relaxing, associated with wealth, profit and trust, as well as environment and nature.

Orange – is the color of warmth and vitality. Orange is also quite aggressive, creating an urgency for an action, but also warm, friendly and inviting, sometimes associated with retro.
